Barôn is a creatively led digital and design agency based in Bolton. Formed in 2009, Barôn creates modern, iconic designs using digital and print.
The Brief
Barôn needed something that would stand out, and set them apart from other digital agencies. The company didn't want a Flash website but still wanted a dynamic site with animation and advanced functionality.
Barôn wanted to include features such as animated image fades, animated rollovers, animated page scrolling, a horizontal scrolling news area and a complex project gallery with scaling images based on the width of the users browser. The website content also needed to be readable by search engines and have the potential to be updated by a custom CMS at a later date.
The design was to be created by Barôn through a consultation period in which the best solutions for the required features would be decided upon.
The Solution
Taking the brief into careful consideration, I chose to base the website on an architecture of XHTML 1.0, CSS1.0 & 2.0, Javascript and Jquery. This would ensure that the content would be visible when Javascript was not switched on and therefore the site could easily be crawled by search engines.
Because the site was all on one page, speed was one of my main concerns, therefore I optimised all images, compressed Javascript / CSS and recommended a fast web host.
Barôn is thrilled with the final design as it precisely fulfills all of the initial requirements with added flare and functionality.
